Sgt Carlos Arguello

Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego Drill Instructor supporting the East Team

What’s your impression of the players so far?

They’re very talented and it’s a diverse group. We’re with the East Coast, but I’m originally from the Midwest. I work on the West Coast when it comes to recruits so now seeing the other portion, it’s just seeing their attitudes their upbringing, you can see how the other side operates. It’s a very good experience.

What is the team learning from the Marines?

I want them to understand the concept of teamwork. These players just met each other this week and I want them to see that. Each and every single one of them is on the same team and they all play as important role as the other ones.

What are you learning from the players?

To me this is a humbling experience. 90 percent of these kids have 20 plus offers to play at D1 colleges. It’s very humbling to understand how their talent alone could take them to so many different schools that want them. So many kids might not have these opportunities so I want them to embrace it and be smart about it—just play it by ear, but at the same time be smart about it.
